The Dayton Auto Race Fan Club is a non-profit organization consisting of owners, drivers, mechanics, promoters and race fans. It was founded by John "Shorty" Miller, Dale "Lucky" Lutz, Gene Moore, Jerry Wahl and Gene Bundy in the 1960s. Bundy, an open wheel enthusiast, originally held meetings in the early 1960s, when his guest speakers were mainly sprint car drivers. As time progressed, the original group of men convinced Bundy that a formal organization was needed to include all types of racing enthusiasts. The Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club, or DARF as we are known today was born. Today, DARF is one of the largest fan clubs in the country.
